CHRISTY LEANN DAVEY

UNSOLVED HOMICIDE

HOMICIDE VICTIM

CHRISTY LEANN DAVEY

VICTIM HISTORY

At the time of her death, Christy was a 24-year-old white female. A mother of four children, her youngest child being born within 3 months of Christy’s death.

Christy’s family describes her as a loving, funny, bubbly girl with a good heart. They state that Christy loved her children and although she yearned for a stable and clean lifestyle, she had been struggling with making changes.

Christy’s family states that although Christy loved her children and loved life, she struggled with PTSD from early childhood trauma. Throughout her childhood, Christy’s life wasn’t easy. Christy was in foster care and at young age, she left foster care and began experimenting with drugs and living a life on the streets in her early teenaged years. The combined childhood trauma and exposure to dangers on the streets, Christy spiraled further into addiction.

Christy’s story of trauma based addiction is not unusual. Many individuals with unprocessed trauma in their history suffer from undiagnosed or untreated mental health issues and can easily spiral into addiction. Sadly, those individuals are targeted and pulled into dangerous situations. If the addiction itself doesn’t lead to death from overdose, they can be easily manipulated by dangerous people and meet an untimely and violent demise. Even if they try to break free, they cannot. The addiction can eventually spiral into homelessness, which can also increase the risk for trafficking, especially in teenagers and young adults.

Just before her death, Christy had reached out to her family for help and stated she was going into a rehabilitation facility in Arizona. In fact, in the days prior to her body being found, the family thought she was in rehab as she was not responding to calls or messages. Although Christy did check into a program, she quickly left when she discovered it would be longer than the 30 days she anticipated.

Approximately 24 hours later, Christy met a horribly violent demise.
