Xavior Harrelson Missing From Montezuma, Iowa Since May 27, 2021

Officials confirmed the human remains found in rural Poweshiek County on September 20th, 2021, are those of Xavior Harrelson, the 10-year-old boy who disappeared from Montezuma on May 27.
On September 30th, the Poweshiek County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a farmer of human remains discovered in a field south of the intersection of Ewart Road at 110th Street. Investigators confirmed that the remains appeared the be those of a juvenile and clothing found at the scene was similar to what Xavior Harrelson was reportedly wearing when he disappeared on May 27, just days before his 11th birthday.
The cause of death has not been released at this time.

Xavior Harrelson’s was last seen on May 27th, 2021 at 11am. He was outside his family home with his bike.
BACKGROUND INFO:
Xavior C Harrelson is an 11 year old boy (age 10 at disappearance) who lived with his mother, Sarah Harrelson in Montezuma, Iowa in the Spruce Village Trailer Park. No other individuals lived inside the home and there were no guests when Xavior disappeared.
Xavior has at one older sibling that reportedly does not live in the home.
According to sources, Xavior’s mother is an amputee and Xavior has taken the role of being a caretaker for her when needed. According to his teachers and neighbors, Xavior is a caring child, who unless attending school, would not leave the trailer park or run away and cause his family and friends to worry.
Xaviors father resides in Iowa in another town and does not live in the home. Law Enforcement stated early on that both parents have been cooperative. Law Enforcement has not named any suspects or POIs but have not ruled out foul play.
Some neighbors report that Xavior and his mother were close and loving, but other neighbors report there were often screaming matches and Xavior would often ask surrounding neighbors to stay at their home instead of his own.
According to online news reports, the windows of the trailer where Xavior and his mother live are boarded up with cardboard and other items. Samantha Rix, the person who reported Xavior missig, told reporters she hasn't heard from Xavior’s mother in days.

According to reports from neighbors, Xavior was home on this evening. The neighbors report they overheard a loud heated argument coming from the trailer Xavior lived in with his mother. The loud argument was allegedly between Xavior and his mother and it occurred around 8pm on this date. The argument allegedly lasted for about 20 minutes.
Other witnesses claim that weekly “screaming matches” were not unusual in the home and now wonder if the recent argument is connected to Xavior’s disappearance.
Thursday, May 27th, 2021
No one in the trailer park claims to see Xavior on this date. BUT Law Enforcement states he was in fact seen on May 27th but have not released details about who saw him
According to reports, Xavior was last seen around 11am Thursday May 27th, on his bike near his family’s home
It is stated that mom acknowledged she indeed had not seen Xavior Thursday morning. She called a friend (Samantha Rix) on Thursday afternoon and told her he was missing.
Samantha stated, “Xavior’s mother refused to report Xavior missing,” so Samantha reported him missing on Thursday night.
On the evening of May 27th, 20 hours after Xavior was last seen, neighbors state they begin a local search.
Neighbors say they find it unusual for Xavior to leave the trailer park area, and to also leave behind his bike.

Iowa IDPS tweets to be on the lookout for 10 yr old Xavior Harrelson who was reported missing from Montezuma, IA on Thursday, May 27 2021
DPS issues message that a search is scheduled for the 29th utilizing Law Enforcement only.
DPS requested public assistance in an additional search scheduled for May 30th utilizing the general public.Media release of the DPS alert states Xavior was reported missing in the afternoon on Thursday, May 27, 2021.

Xavior’s 11th birthday
A large group of 500 people volunteer and look through rural areas in Poweshiek County and Diamond Lake Park and in and around Montezuma for Xavier. At this stage, any criminality has not been suspected.

Transcription of recent media interview with Law Enforcement regarding remains found near Montezuma, Iowa.
“..Earlier today the Sheriff's Department received a call from a local farmer that they had found what they thought to be as human remains in a field just south of here.
The sheriff's office responded and confirmed what the what the farmer had reported and had called the D. C.
Since we've been working the the investigation of Xavier Harrelson together, um in the event that it could possibly be Xavier. We responded along with the state medical examiner's office and the state anthropologist. And we can confirm at this time that it is human remains that's been confirmed by the state medical examiner's office.
It appears to be that of an adolescent. And at this time the clothing description or the clothing that we see on scene even though it's obviously soiled and stuff, is consistent with what we knew Xavier to last be wearing.
We are not saying that it is Xavier Harrelson at this time. There's a lot of work yet to be done at the scene here and then. As you can imagine, the state medical examiner's office and state anthropologist has a lot of work left ahead of them in the days and weeks even to come.”
